Walking the Way El Camino and the Heart of Spain

El Camino & the Soul of Spain: A Journey of Culture and Connection

A walking pilgrimage, and discovering what Legacy  means to you as you travel with the support of a small similarly-minded community…

Liz Jackson, Gogi Abroad founder, has created a dynamic Camino Trip combining an authentic cultural experience with the purpose and space to dive — or dive deeper —  into your own physical and spiritual path. You get ample support to find your own “camino” (way).

This trip’s theme is about living your LEGACY as you enjoy the bounties of Spain and walk El Camino. We will play with the possibilities of what Legacy means to you in order to live each day in alignment with the way you want to be regarded. You will be able to clarify and set intentions while making a commitment to yourself within a small group of fellow explorers. We want you to feel – and be – free, yet know and feel that you are being held as you journey!!

Good planning and preparation are vital to the success of the journey — so this program begins three months before you depart. Before even leaving your home, you will know what to pack; you will get advice for physically preparing for a safe and healthy journey; and you will develop a community of co-travelers who will serve as companions and resources as you create your Camino. As you prepare yourself to begin, you will also be exploring the deeper reasons you are setting out on this path and getting ready for the self-discoveries that may lie ahead.

•Do you want to walk the Camino de Santiago, but don’t know how to start?

•Are you a single traveler looking to walk with others?

•Do you have a curiosity about what walking a pilgrimage can offer and want the support of a coach to help you prepare physically, mentally, and, maybe even, spiritually?

•Do you want to explore Madrid, eat at amazing restaurants, and check out some incredible places with Gogi Guides?

•Short on time but still want to experience the magic of the Camino? Join us for a fun, hassle-free trip where everything is planned for you!

If you can say “YES” to any of these questions, then this trip is for you.

The Camino offers opportunities for discovery with cross-cultural experiences, natural, historic, and religious sites, a doable physical challenge, spiritual pursuit, and more!

“The task of putting my experience with my Gogi Abroad is proven to be quite difficult. I’ve had the pleasure of being able to participate with Gogi Abroad and Liz for three trips so far! Each trip through its uniqueness holds a special place in my heart. My main intention for choosing the trips offered by Liz was to experience another part of the world in a way that immersed me into the culture and magic.
Liz has an amazing, god –gift ability to bring together two very different worlds through her love of our planet and the people who inhabit it. Whether co-habitating with a special indigenous family overcoming the language barrier in Ecuador, hiking the beautiful landscape while learning the history of Peru, or swimming in a sea of beautiful plant and animal life in waters on the Galapagos Islands, there was a common thread of connectedness and pure joy of simplicity not only with the group I was with but with the communities that welcomed us. Thank you Gogi for offering the experiences of a lifetime. I look forward to many more.”

Each person has their own Camino — the pace you walk, what you choose to carry, what you eat, where you visit, and where you sleep, who you spend time with along the Way, and how far you want to travel in a given amount of time. Whatever your choices, everyone needs to take similar first steps. Sometimes just deciding to walk the Camino is the biggest step in this glorious and potentially life-changing experience.

At GOGI, we believe in the transformative power of authentic travel. Our trips immerse travelers in the language, culture, and people of a new community. Our trips are “soul immersion” experiences, where we connect with and learn from those who are different from us and experience the fundamental ways in which we are all connected.A lot of travel involves taking, so our trips focus on giving to the communities we stay with. This giving back makes the travel more meaningful for everyone involved. It strengthens our bonds, inspires inner growth, and changes perspectives.

Cultural immersion is more than just being a tourist and seeing the sights, it's an opportunity to engage meaningfully with individuals and a community, to build relationships, make connections, and live life as they do.

Our trips facilitate spiritual, intellectual, and personal growth by taking the time to connect deeply with the people whose culture we’re visiting. By taking the time to steep in the culture, we see more, feel more, and the culture becomes more alive for us. Small, but far-reaching, shifts begin happening within us.

The Route of Your Journey
The Camino Francés is the most famous and celebrated of all the Camino de Santiago routes, known for its cultural richness, historical landmarks, and the strong sense of community that builds among pilgrims along the way. While the full route stretches nearly 800 kilometers from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France, we will be walking the final 140 kilometers, beginning in the mountain village of Triacastela and making our way to Santiago de Compostela—the minimum distance required to receive the Compostela, the official certificate of pilgrimage.

This final stretch winds through the lush, rolling hills of Galicia, leading us across quiet country roads, through stone-built villages, ancient chapels, and forested paths. It is a section rich with both natural beauty and centuries of tradition. Each day offers opportunities for meaningful reflection, shared stories, and moments of awe, whether standing before a Romanesque church or watching the sunrise spill over misty meadows. After arriving in Santiago and taking time to celebrate and reflect at the cathedral, we will extend our pilgrimage to Finisterre, the legendary “end of the earth,” where pilgrims have long come to complete their journey by the sea.

The Camino Francés is more than a walk—it is an experience of connection, simplicity, and transformation. Whether you come seeking renewal, inspiration, or simply the joy of the path, this route offers space for all who are ready to journey inward while walking outward through one of the most storied pilgrim routes in the world.

WHAT MAKES US EXTRAORDINARY: There are many outfits out there in the world that teach through travel. Each company has an individual character to them. Going outward to encounter a new environment and country takes strength and courage. Our programs are designed to give you  the opportunity to explore and see a new culture, hear a new language, explore new foods, hike new terrains with self-awareness, trust and compassion. We connect with  communities that we have strong ties with. We give you a safe and comfortable environment to explore and In which to open your eyes and heart to new experiences. Providing space and time to connect with the locals of the community creates connectivity and, in return, a whole new perspective on life and the world. This is where we begin to grow internally and appreciate the world around us.

On this adventure you will be exposed to Spanish culture as Liz has had family and friends for over 30 years and there is nothing more special than having a local take you around the country~ It brings us right into the culture, and language and we begin to experience something new! We can be stretched outside our comfort zone, and this is where the magic and growth happens! We will be walking El Camino and at the same time be presented with unique opportunities to learn about Spanish culture, and most importantly we learn more about ourselves more profoundly.
