Day2: Dive Into Village Life & Sacred Balinese Traditions
Accommodation: Village Homestay
Morning:
Welcome to the heart of Bali! Start your adventure by settling into a local village homestay, where you’ll experience life like a true Balinese villager. After a scenic drive past lush rice fields, we’ll arrive at Dr. Ari’s beautiful Javanese-style home, greeted with refreshing coconut drinks and a delicious lunch. After introductions, you’ll meet your homestay family—think cozy homes and neighbors who feel like one big extended family!
Afternoon:
Take a guided tour of the village to uncover the secrets of traditional Balinese architecture and home design. Ever wondered how culture shapes the spaces people live in? Here’s your chance to see it firsthand! Then, get ready to move your body and learn the Kecak Monkey Dance—a rhythmic, high-energy performance filled with chanting and storytelling.
Evening:
Gather for a communal dinner at the Joglo House, where you’ll savor authentic Balinese cuisine. Afterward, channel your inner musician with a gamelan jam session, playing alongside the talented Sekaa Gong Munduk Pakel group. This traditional ensemble of percussion instruments is the heartbeat of Balinese music—prepare to have a blast making music together!
Day 3: Sunrise, Healing, & Hands-On Creativity
Accommodation: Village Homestay
Morning:
Feeling adventurous? Start your day with an early sunrise walk to a nearby hilltop, where you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Mt. Agung, the Batukaru ranges, and the shimmering ocean. Afterward, enjoy breakfast with your homestay family and share stories of the morning over a group check-in.
Next, Dr. Ari will guide us into the world of traditional Balinese healing and the incredible role of medicinal plants in daily life. Stroll through the village garden to gather plants used for medicine, cooking, and offerings.
Afternoon:
Roll up your sleeves for a hands-on workshop! You’ll learn to make coconut oil and craft coconut bowls—a fun, creative way to connect with Balinese traditions and take home a unique souvenir.
Evening:
End the day with a group dinner, followed by another session of gamelan with Sekaa Gong. It’s your chance to master the art of Balinese percussion and connect with your fellow travelers and the local community through music.
