Frederick Francis Ole Ikayo is a Maasai native born in Longido, Tanzania. He is the second born of three siblings. Fred comes to Gogi Abroad with a wealth of life experience, including that of his Maasai cultures and traditions. He has great compassion and brings a sense of humor to each of our trips in Tanzania.
While growing up Fred attended a boarding school in Moshi, Tanzania. After finishing his elementary and middle school years he enrolled as a freshmen in Longido High School. During his junior year Fred was selected to compete for the YES PROGRAM, a scholarship to study in the United States as an international exchange student. After extensive testing during this region-wide competition, six students from the Arusha region including Fred were selected for the prestigious opportunity. Fred had a successful year as an exchange student in the United States. When he returned back to Tanzania Fred enrolled for a diploma in Law in Nairobi, Kenya where he studied for two years.
Fred is currently pursuing a bachelors in Law at Tumaini Makumira in Arusha, Tanzania. Fred’s passion to study law is self-driven by his desire to advocate for his Maasai community who are often voiceless, unrepresented, and seen as underprivileged in different spheres of life.
