We are pleased that you have decided to apply for participation on our Gogi Abroad trip and look forward to working with you. You are about to embark on an adventure of a lifetime! There are a few steps you must complete before being accepted into the program. Your final acceptance is contingent upon the receipt and approval of the forms in the application packet.

We are happy to connect with you before you fill out the application and discuss your questions. Direct communication and clarity is something we feel is important before, during and after our trips. If you email Liz, she will contact you to discuss a trip.

Student Application Process Overview & Gap Year Application Process 

Submission of this application will hold your place on the program for two weeks. Gogi Abroad considers the admissions process to be an important aspect of the study abroad experience. We hope that our application and conversations will be useful to you as you prepare for an important and meaningful experience abroad.

Step 1 – Apply

  1. Complete the application and medical forms linked below and return a scanned PDF by email or regular mail: Gogi Abroad, PO Box 42, Putney, VT 05346
  2. Parents and participant must read and sign the Student Behavioral Contract (below)
  3. Submit Teacher Reference Form online here
  4. Participant must complete the Student Essay Questions

Step 2 – Submit a Deposit and Payment

  • Hold a space in the program with a non- refundable deposit of $200 . This deposit can be submitted online, via paypal or by check, to: Gogi Abroad, PO Box 42, Putney, VT 05346
  • 50% of the remaining balance is due 10 days after acceptance of your application however, we prefer full payment at this time if possible.  If you need to set up a payment plan contact Gogi Abroad.

IMG_7073Step 3 – Schedule an Interview via Skype

  • Call or email to schedule a Skype interview: 802 275 2948. In preparation for your interview please:
  • Read through your program information, available online and we will also send you additional information.
  • Submit a copy of the front page of your passport via email  prior to your interview.
  • Be prepared to provide contact information for any counselor(s) or therapist(s) that you have seen within the last two years.

Step 4 – Interview  

Skype interviews are conducted with the Gogi Abroad Director. The interview will be 30-60 minutes. This is an important step in the admissions process. The purpose of making this connection with us are :

  • To discuss your goals for the trip or your Tribal Ambassadorship Gap year program. To walk through the program itinerary, allowing you to ask questions about each program component. We want to review your medical history including health information, allergies, any dietary restrictions, and relevant medical history, etc. Also, it is important for you as well as us to assess whether this trip is a good fit for you and Gogi Abroad.
  • The interview is an opportunity for you to learn what to expect on a Gogi trip, and for us to understand how we can best support you. Therefore, it is crucial that you are honest and ask questions throughout the interview process.

Step 5 – Status Update

  • Participant  will be notified of their application status within 7 days of interview or when application is complete.

Complete the application and medical history forms. You can download it and either fill it out online or by pen and send it back to us by mail or scanning it.

Step 2 – Submit a Deposit and Payment for the program

  • Hold a space in the program with a non- refundable deposit of $400 . This deposit can be submitted online, via paypal or by check, to: Gogi Abroad, PO Box 42, Putney, VT 05346

Cancellation Policy:   All cancellations must be made in writing (via email) and be acknowledged by Gogi Abroad in writing (via email).  The deposit is non-refundable but may be applied to another trip within the same or next calendar year. Only one deposit transfer per trip/per deposit. Cancellations received from the time your application is received to 90 days prior to the trip start date are subject to full forfeiture of the deposit. Cancellations received between 90 and 60 days prior to the trip start date are subject to a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the total trip cost.  Cancellations received within 60 days of the trip start date are subject to a cancellation fee equal to 100% of the entire trip cost. Any airfare paid is subject to separate terms and conditions which are provided upon ticketing.

If possible you may be able to transfer your spot to another participant if it is determined by Gogi Abroad that the other person is in the proper physical condition to participate in the trip activity and meets the requirements of the application process and assumes responsibility for any outstanding balance payments. This will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Application Deadlines: Please note that ALL Gogi Abroad trips have a rolling admissions policy. This means that it is important to apply early, as some programs fill prior to their stated deadlines. Most trips have a Maximum of 12 participates.

 

WAITLISTED APPLICATIONS: Wait-listed applications must include an $200 deposit to reserve their place on the waitlist. The deposit is fully refunded if space does not become available, or if the participant chooses to withdraw his or her application.
